If there were such a thing as "Photoholics Anonymous" I would probably have to join. Even at a young age, I was fascinated with photographs of any kind and so when I came to an age where I could learn a camera, I did. Starting with my fathers Graflex 35mm camera with a maximum shutter speed of 1/300 and split focus system, it became clear things were pretty complex to get the picture that your eye actually saw. Learning the workings of a camera and the details of light was in order. I used this camera for many years and in fact the two photos at the top of my web page are photos taken with that camera. I learned how to control the camera settings to get the picture I truly saw, or to modify them to get a picture that was artistically creative. As my learning grew, I realized the limitations of the camera I was using and decided to buy my own. I must say, the bells and whistles that came with my new Nikon N80 were a bit baffling until I understood they were only shortcuts to what I already knew! I practically wore that camera out living in Hawaii for two years. My picture taking and knowledge grew exponentially and my photographs were inspiring enough to have people ask me to come take pictures of special events in their lives. It was at this time, that I was hooked for good. Here I could do what possessed me. Document moments in time, and the freedom to take mostly candid pictures to capture the feel and atmosphere of the event. In the future, these photos would prompt many fond memories. With the changing of time and technology, it became obvious I needed to switch to using a digital camera if I wanted to make a living with my photos. I made that leap and have never looked back. There is hardly any event or subject that I cannot find some interest in. I have photographed car shows, horse competitions, weddings, holiday gatherings, air shows, club events and more. My biggest pleasure is to grab my equipment and go driving to take pictures of happenings or things of interest. Because of this practice, I have tailored my business to the more candid side of photography. Now I can do this, and with this website I can make my pictures available to those who might have interest in them. My education and abilities have been focused on taking a great picture in its raw form. I am capable with photo editing softwares, and enjoy the creative things they can do, but my first interest is in taking a great photograph. Continued learning as technology changes, and gaining experience in creating the photographs I enjoy, is my goal. Nothing pleases me more than to apply my goal of taking photographs that my clients can enjoy for a lifetime. Linda K. Toups
